This guide provides an overview of what your child will learn by the end of 5th grade in mathematics and English language arts/literacy.
5th Grade Home
Can you believe your child is the big kid on campus? The years went by so quickly.
Our 5th grade year is filled with a lot of learning and fun. We'll start off the year with our Living History day entitled, "Life at Sea." The children learn how to tie ropes, row boats and speak like sailors. The day serves as a preparation for the fall 5th Grade overnight on the Balclutha, a ship anchored in Aquatic Park in San Francisco.
Throughout the year, your child will learn about Explorers to the New World and end their Social Studies segment Walking through the American Revolution.
The spring overnight is traditionally at the Marin Headlands. This science camp offers a hands-on experience for students where everything from ecology, geology and environmental awareness is on display.
The last weeks of school are very hectic with many 5th grade-only events, such as the annual 5th Grade vs. Teachers Kickball Game.
We're in for an exciting year!
